Top Level Domain Names

You need to learn about top level domain before you go registering that fancy new domain of yours. Top level domains is a term that basically refers to the extension at the end of the name of a Web site, for example: .com. Besides the ever-popular .com, you can also find other top levels like .net, .org, .info and .biz. Why is it important to know what a top level domain name is? Because if you don't, you may miss out on the opportunity to make a great deal of money. Top level domain registration should be comprehensive; that is, when you register a .com, you may want to register its .net and other counterparts.

Try to register top level domains with a .com extension first, because .com is still the best-known top level domain suffix. If someone has already registered the .com top level domain name, you should consider using .net, .org, .us, .info, .biz, or other well-known top level domains. You may want to buy multiple extensions so that no one else can buy them, and so that Internet users can more easily find your Web site.
