Whois is an Internet program that allows users to search through a database of Web domains, networks, and hosts. The InterNIC maintains this database and it is accessible for free online. For each domain, you can see its company name, address, phone number and email address. Who is domain name information is available for you to review today, so use it well when you go shopping for domain name providers.
You can use Whois.net (it's not at Who - is . com or . com Whois ) to search for an available Whois domain name. If that Who is domain name is available, you will be prompted to register it. Whois.Net will then take you to a Web site where you can secure your own Who is domain name.

Whois.net is definately a legitimate company. I am not aware if there are any complaints against them or not.
